Spring Ballet Intro: Swan Lake

May 8th-June 12th (no class May 29 Memorial Day)

Age 3-6 Monday 3:00-4:00 Onsite

There will be an in studio presentation on the last class where parents will be able to see what their little dancer has learned.

In this short session young dancers will study the fundamentals of ballet: posture, musicality, basic steps (plié, tendu, sauté, chassé, grand jeté etc). They’ll then learn the story of Swan Lake. They’ll see some of the ballet’s most iconic moments and act out scenes from the ballet using their ballet vocabulary. Culminating in a presentation on the last day of the session.

Dress Code:

Girls: Pink full soled ballet shoes, ballet tights, white sleeveless leotard.

Boys: Black or white full soled ballet shoes, black leggings, black or white fitted t-shirt.

Meet Our Ballet Teacher

Cynthia Dragoni is a ballet based multidisciplinary artist, director, choreographer and teacher. Her work uses dance as medium through which to create performances and programming that weave theatre, aerial arts, video, light and stories into one experience.

Formerly a classical dancer working and studying in theatres in Ukraine and St Petersburg, Russia. She has performed in the classics: Swan Lake, Don Quixote, Giselle, La Bayadere, Spartacus, The Nutcracker, Sleeping Beauty, and Le Corsaire. Followed by a decade performing in NYC where she worked with contemporary companies Henning Rübsam’s Sensedance and Ballets with a Twist.

She studied at the University of Pennsylvania and The New School and was awarded a place in the the Arts Management / Capacity Building Program at The Kennedy Center. She is a member of: Conseil International de la Danse inside UNESCO headquarters in Paris.

She has created and run international dance summer programs in Bretagne and Paris France, in conjunction with the Conservatoire Mozart in Paris.

She founded and directed the Ballet Institute NY. Where students had classical training alongside theatre/visual arts studies with an eye towards nurturing artists who have the tools to further the development of their art form/s.

She currently teaches and produces shows in New York, Paris and throughout the US.
